Breken is a production simulation and automated software testing platform designed to discover bugs before they affect customers. It rebuilds an application and its surrounding production state on isolated machines, allowing the complete system to run without relying on mocked services or external access. The platform grows realistic state from simulated use, including accounts, records, pending work and unclosed sessions. Breken also creates synthetic populations made up of users and agents with different intentions, habits and levels of patience. These actors can perform activities such as bulk editing, opening the same document in multiple tabs or processing refunds from an inbox. Its exploration engine searches thousands of scenarios by varying one condition at a time, including retries, lost responses, clock changes and deployments during active jobs. The system claims to cover years of production behavior in hours using accelerated execution at up to 4000 times speed. A failure is accepted only when it reproduces consistently against a stable control. Breken provides the exact state and trace of the failure and can open a draft pull request containing a proposed fix. The product is presented as an open source contribution and benchmark project.
